Highlights

RobFlow 8.1 is a RobSafety release. It adds support for safety program v2, gives the always-active parameters a place of their own, and brings every safety function name in line with the official safety manual. It also carries the three payload and Tool fixes that shipped in 8.1.1 on August 19, 2026.

  • Safety program v2 support: RobSafety reads property defaults per instance straight from the PMT file, so v2 cells show and configure the parameters that actually apply to them.
  • "Active in Manual Mode" for SF10: Where the safety program supports it, SF10 now offers the option as a toggle.
  • General Parameters tab: The parameters that are always active — the SF6 sum of joint speeds, the shared SS1/SS2 deceleration limit — are collected in one tab instead of being spread across safety functions.
  • Names match the safety manual: "Safe Home" is now "Safe User-Defined Position" everywhere, and SF9's option names the E-Stop button explicitly.
  • Payload and Tool fixes (8.1.1): Inertia and center of mass now reach the controller at the right scale, and editing an applied Tool re-applies it immediately.

Features & changes

RobSafety supports safety program v2

RobSafety now configures cells running safety program v2, reading property defaults per instance directly from the PMT file. Cells on older safety programs keep their 8.0 behavior, and a v2 program keeps working on its defaults whether or not you change anything.

  • Defaults per instance: Property defaults are read from the PMT file for each instance, so each safety function shows the values that apply to that cell.
  • SF10 "Active in Manual Mode": Appears as a toggle wherever the safety program exposes it.
  • General Parameters tab: A new tab collecting the global parameters that are always active, rather than attaching them to an individual safety function.

General Parameters

Some safety parameters are not tied to one safety function — they apply to the whole cell, all the time. Those now live in their own General Parameters tab in RobSafety, including the SF6 sum of joint speeds and the SS1/SS2 deceleration limit that both stopping functions share.

Safety function names match the safety manual

Safety function labels in RobFlow now match the official safety manual word for word, so a parameter you read about in the manual is the parameter you find in RobSafety. The change covers RobSafety, the detailed safety state panel, and the generated safety reports — reports exported from 8.1 onward use the new terminology.

  • "Safe Home" is now "Safe User-Defined Position", throughout.
  • SF8 reads "Output Safe User-Defined Position reached".
  • SF8 joint parameters read "Joint N User-Defined Position".
  • SF9's option reads "Output E-Stop Button state instead of Safe Stop 1".

Unit vector parameters are validated

Unit vector parameters — the SF15 "Tool Orientation" cone axis, for instance — now use a dedicated editor that checks the three values actually form a unit vector. An invalid vector disables Submit instead of being rejected later on upload, and the misleading mm unit is gone: these values are a direction, not a length.

Failed parameter uploads say why

If the controller rejects a safety parameter upload, RobFlow now shows an error snackbar with the reason. Previously the failure was dropped silently, which left the configuration on screen disagreeing with the parameter set the controller was actually running.
